Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 22, 2026
Technopolicy is an independent publication, and this page describes what we collect, why, and the choices you have. “We” means the operator of technopolicy.net, and [email protected] is the address for privacy questions. Our subjects involve technology and public life, so please avoid sending confidential documents, personal identifiers or anything tied to a sensitive dispute.
Keeping information safe
Reasonable safeguards, both technical and organizational, are used to protect information from loss, misuse and unauthorized access. Nothing sent over the internet can be guaranteed fully secure, and for that reason you should leave passwords and payment details out of any message.
Amendments
Changes to this policy may be made occasionally. The date at the top of the page marks the current version, and for material changes we will give any further notice or ask for consent where the law demands it.
Who else handles information
We rely on outside providers for hosting, security, delivery and email, and where enabled, advertising and embedded media. Such providers handle information to perform their service, and some act under their own privacy notices.
Requests about your information
Depending on where you live, you may be able to ask for access to, correction of or deletion of your information, decline sale, sharing or targeted advertising, and limit certain uses of sensitive data. Email [email protected] to start a request.
Measurement, ads and referral links
Small files and scripts such as cookies can be set to support site features, count visits through analytics, serve ads and attribute affiliate referrals. The exact mix in use can change over time.
Newsletters
Should the site offer a newsletter, your email address is used to send what you asked for. The link at the bottom of any issue lets you opt out, or you can write to [email protected]; a minimal record may be kept so the request is respected.
Details you choose to share
If you write to [email protected] or use a form where one is offered, we receive your name, email address and message, plus anything you attach. Questions about regulation or digital rights often involve personal circumstances; share only what is needed to explain your point. We read it to answer you, assess corrections or suggestions and keep a sensible record of the conversation.
Data location
Providers we use may process information in countries other than your own, where data protection rules can differ. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Staying in control
You can use your browser to block, limit or delete cookies. Blocking everything can interfere with some features, and browser settings do not control every method of collection.
Where a browser sends Global Privacy Control or a comparable opt-out signal, we honor it for advertising and sharing choices to the extent applicable law calls for it. Do Not Track has no common meaning across the web, so it may not change what third parties do.
Basic visit records
Whenever you open an article on technopolicy.net, the servers that deliver it can keep a record of details such as your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page and the time of the request.
Children
It is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly gather data from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to [email protected] and we will look into it and delete what should not be held.
How long we keep things
Records are retained for as long as there is a genuine purpose: messages while they remain useful for follow-up, server logs for a limited operational period, and newsletter data until you unsubscribe. A legal requirement may require longer retention.
