The Science Angel Forum is a new event offering a platform for international investors and university startups to structure their cooperation. It is a joint venture of the Technopolicy Network with Business Angels Europe Club and Business Angels Netwerken Nederland.
The first edition was launched in The Netherlands at the Amsterdam Science Park, followed by a dinner in the inspiring Art Deco atmosphere of Café Americain. The second day was fully focused on new interactions and took place at the Noviotech Campus in Nijmegen, the oldest city of the Netherlands. The Science Angel Forum started with a debate between the university community and the investors’ community, and was followed by pitches of “science based startups”, looking for second round investments. In parallel to this session representatives of universities, regional development agencies and investors discussed a draft “Science Angel memorandum” on how to improve the sustainability of science based startups.
The Science Angel Forum was attended by 150 participants and well evaluated. We have composed a brief report of the event. The outcomes of the round table discussion held in Nijmegen are summarized in ten commandments on science-based investments. For an impression of the event please check out our online photo album.
