In 2007, Science Alliance was invited by the Danish Agency of Science, Technology and Innovation to identify and explore various international best practices in incubation, in economical systems comparable to that of Denmark. Due to the latter, the analysis was focused on Western Europe and Israel, where eight incubators were selected for further study and analysis.

The purpose of this study was to identify the most important common characteristics of the explored best practice incubation processes, visit the best practice incubators, and apply the acquired knowledge to further strengthen best practices in incubation processes.
