The Technopolicy Network performed a study on explanatory factors for successful regional innovation performance on behalf of the Dutch regional government of Zuid-Holland. This study was done as a part of the project “Denktank 2”, in which the Kennisalliantie Z-H examines how the regional innovation climate in the Province of Zuid-Holland can be further improved.

The study of The Technopolicy Network identified the determining factors for successful regional innovation policies, whereby a model was constructed to describe, analyze and explain these factors (see model). This model was used to make an international comparison of nine European regions and their innovation systems. The results are used within a broader context of the “Denktank 2” project to further improve the regional innovation performance of the Province of Zuid-Holland.
